The chickpeas are husked and split into firm golden halves that hold their shape well during cooking. A 1kg bag is a generous size for regular cooks and larger families. It is a dry pulse, so it needs soaking and boiling before eating.
Cooking and Uses: Rinse well, then soak for at least an hour or two, or overnight for a softer result. Drain, cover with fresh water and boil, then simmer for around forty five minutes to an hour until tender, topping up the water as needed. Season with a tarka of onion, garlic, ginger and spices. It suits batch cooking and freezes well once cooked.
Keep in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. After opening, store in an airtight container and use within the date on the pack.
