East End Foods soya chunks are made from textured soya protein and sold in a 250 g single retail pack. Dry and light in the bag, the chunks swell to several times their size once soaked or simmered, taking on a satisfying, slightly chewy bite. They are a popular meat free protein in South Asian and everyday home cooking.
Cooking and Uses: Soak the chunks in hot water for around 10 to 15 minutes, or boil them briefly, then squeeze out the excess water. Add them to an onion and tomato masala for a soya curry, drop them into keema style dishes, pulaos and stews, or use them in place of some of the meat in a recipe. Cook thoroughly before serving.
Keep in a cool, dry place. Once opened, store in an airtight container. Use soaked chunks promptly and refrigerate any cooked leftovers.
