TRS Toor Dal is a 500g retail pack of split pigeon peas, also known as arhar or tuvar dal. These pale golden yellow lentils are dehusked and split, so they soften quickly into the smooth, creamy base that defines classic dal and South Indian sambar.
Rinse well, then simmer or pressure cook until soft and finish with a tempering of ghee or oil, cumin, garlic and dried chilli. Ideal for tarka dal, sambar, khichdi and hearty lentil soups.
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Once opened, keep in an airtight container.
